Kristen comes to the StyleSeat team with more than 10 years of experience working in social media across multiple industries, including beauty, e-commerce, education, publishing, media, and more, primarily focusing on driving engagement, follower growth, and community building.

Today, Kristen is StyleSeat’s Senior Social Media & Influencer Manager, leading StyleSeat’s Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and Pinterest channels. She also leads our influencer program which will launch later this year. Kristen selects which Pros and content are featured on StyleSeat’s channels, and can provide advice and best practices so StyleSeat Pros feel empowered to build their own communities and businesses through social media channels.

Hi @lindsdoesnails! The best platforms for growth and engagement right now are TikTok and Instagram. You can create short-form video content that can be used for both platforms.

Hi @lovelylashes! There are 2 ways to be featured on StyleSeat’s Instagram:

  1. Tag @styleseat in your Instagram posts, following best practices for Instagram Reels. I look through our tagged content on a regular basis and repost!
  2. Fill out our ‘Want to be Featured’ form here: Want To Be Featured? with your information and we will reach out if it’s a good fit.

Great question @BAM. If your goal is to reach new potential clients, you should create engaging video content that shows off your work and personality. Some content ideas include showing before & after transformations, funny relatable content, new trending styles, behind the scenes, etc. This approach works for all social media networks because if your content is engaging, more people will see it and reach out to book.

Regarding promotions, it’s up to you to decide! Advertising a first-time customer discount on your social media posts may incentivize new clients to book.

Is it a best time to post on social media and how long should a video be. Will Style Seat in the future use videos on its platform.

When using Style Seat marketing tool on the site such as the email marketing and promotion button. . . What exactly do they do to promote it and how often should you use it.

Are there any newer social media platforms that you think have the potential to become good for marketing?

Hi there, there is no best time to post on social media. If your content is strong, it will perform well regardless of time. Video content on Instagram should be between 30-60 seconds, TikTok should be 60-90 seconds.

For email marketing, if you have an upcoming promotion or special coming up you want clients to know are coming up, or have any sort of other updates like changes to your hours that clients should be aware of, you can use an email campaign to send out those updates. The promotion button gives you the option to set up a promotion on your profile for discounted services (like a promo code). This article shares more about that feature: Promotions : StyleSeat

Hi there, TikTok is a newer platform and is excellent for marketing purposes. I would not recommend focusing on platforms other than TikTok, Instagram, Facebook or Pinterest.

Hi Alicia, great question. Here are some common mistakes that businesses make on social:

  1. Not following best practices for posting content: Inevitably, some posts will perform better than others, but it’s important to stay up to date on what’s trending and what each algorithm is favoring to give your business the best chance to be successful.
  2. Not responding to your DMs and comments: this is how prospective clients will reach out to you! It’s important to view and respond to any inbound messages in a timely manner, especially if someone is trying to book a service with you or has a question. You should also be engaging with your audience in other ways, such as following clients/other Pros back and liking their posts.
  3. Ignoring analytics: the ‘insights’ tab within Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and Pinterest can give you valuable data and hints for the type of content you should post in the future. Which posts of yours reached the largest audience, or received the most likes/comments/shares? Do you notice any patterns with high-performing content? Or on the flip side, if you notice content continuing not to perform well via your analytics, experiment with a different technique or content type.
  4. Stick to your niche: post the content that your audience wants to see! For example, if you’re a hairstylist, you should only post content relevant to hair. For personal content, use a separate account.
  5. Not signing up to be featured: getting promoted by brands like StyleSeat allows you to reach new audiences and grow your following. Make sure to fill out our form to be considered!
